Social mobility : a difficult change to manage

They called Bibi. Only son, his father was illiterate, sick and depressed, his mother, homemaker. He lived in public housing neighborhood. He had to fight for the duration of their studies against the advice of his parents, away from the support in its efforts, the brake by encouraging them to find work instead of pursuing his studies. He eventually got his engineering degree and now occupies a position with "responsibilities" as they say ... (As if other positions did not have responsibilities ...).
It is common to hear that a change has been more difficult to achieve a desired change. Well, that kind of change for me is the archetype of a desired change that requires a real battle on a daily basis by a questioning of the individual in his whole system of representation, beliefs and values to reach the identity of the person.

Social mobility is defined as the change of status of a population over time. It can be applied to many fields, wealth, household income and the hereditary divisions (in India or Japan for example), employment or education level.
In 2003, for example, in France, "only" 23% of the son of farmers were farmers while 88% of parents were farmers themselves ... Similarly, 52% were senior executives son while 23% were senior executives son. Social mobility is increasing but so is this a matter of generations?
INSEE (French National Institute of the Statistics and Economic Surveys) seems that there has been an acceleration of social mobility between 1977 and 2003 from 57% of men not socially mobile, 1977, we moved to 65% in 2003 - the social mobility of women in terms of Profession and social category is more difficult to measure in time, the participation rate of older women is very low. New World Encyclopedia, http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Social_mobility, gives a global picture, which also showed an acceleration of social mobility through or because of globalization and the overall development of education.

Social mobility is a major personal change with impacts on the whole being well beyond his intellectual capacity. Serve individually these mutations would be equally necessary that accompanying downward mobility.
